Your wallet & credits, explained

No funny-money. 1 credit = $1. A top-up adds a flat 10% fee, cloud compute bills at 1.2× real cost, and your own AI keys are never billed. Here's exactly where every cent goes.

A tour of the Wallet tab: reading your balance, topping up through Stripe, and decoding each itemized charge in the billing ledger.

Key takeaways

  • 1 credit = $1 USD. Credits are plain dollars — no conversion, and they never expire.
  • A top-up adds a flat +10% processing fee — $10 of credits costs $11 at checkout.
  • Cloud compute (renders, clip scans, decompose) is billed at 1.2× the real provider cost.
  • Bring-your-own AI keys are never billed by VidFarm — you only pay for compute you actually run.
  • The free tier has no wallet: it always shows $0 and can't be funded until you upgrade.

The whole model, in one line

VidFarm's wallet is deliberately boring: one credit is one US dollar. There's no points system, no funny-money conversion. You top up a balance, and cloud jobs draw it down as they run. Everything else is just two small numbers — a top-up fee and a compute markup — that we'll make completely transparent below.

The wallet lives on the Wallet tab in Settings. It shows your available balance, a Top up wallet → button, and a Transparent billing history ledger where every render and top-up is itemized. If you're on the free tier you'll see a $0 balance and an Upgrade to add credits → button instead — more on that below.

How pricing worksThe most founder-friendly pricing: plain US dollars

We think this is the most founder-friendly pricing in the business: there are no credits. No points, no tokens, no funny-money conversion table to decode. Your balance is just US dollars, because dollars are clearer than any credit ever could be. There are exactly three things that affect what you pay, and nothing about your bill will ever surprise you.

BYOK

1 credit = $1. You set rate limits (max spend per hour/day) to stay in control.

Where a credit goes: you're billed for compute (×1.2), never for your own AI keys.
What it costs A quick worked example. You buy $10 of credits → Stripe charges $11 (the +10% fee) and your wallet shows $10.0000. You run a cloud render whose real compute cost is $0.05 → your wallet is debited $0.06 (0.05 × 1.2). The AI key you brought to write the captions? $0 from VidFarm — that provider billed you directly.

Transparent billing historyReading the ledger — cost centers

Every debit in the ledger is tagged with a cost center so you can see what each charge was for. The common ones:

Because BYOK AI-key usage never touches your wallet, it never appears in the ledger at all. Every row you see is compute VidFarm actually ran for you.

The Wallet tab's Transparent billing history ledger: a large balance number reading $12.3400 with a 'Top up wallet →' button, above a list of itemized rows — a green '+ Wallet top-up' credit and several '− Timeline render usage' debits, each with a timestamp.
The ledger itemizes every top-up and every render. You're only charged for compute — BYO AI keys never appear here.

Manual walkthroughTop up your wallet

  1. Open the Wallet tab

Go to Settings → Wallet . You'll see your Available balance with the time it was last updated on the right.

  2. Click Top up wallet

Hit Top up wallet →. (On the free tier this button reads Upgrade to add credits → and sends you to pricing first — free accounts can't fund a wallet.)

  3. Complete Stripe checkout

You're handed to secure Stripe checkout. Remember the fee: $X of credits = $X × 1.10, so buying $10 of credits is an $11 charge before tax.

  4. Verify the credit landed

Back on the Wallet tab, confirm the new Wallet top-up row in the Transparent billing history ledger and your updated balance.

Tip Worried about a long render quietly eating your balance? You can cap spend with per-hour and per-day credit rate limits so long-lived jobs never surprise you. Higher plan tiers get higher rate limits.
Note Wallet credits are separate from your subscription and never expire — they roll over forever and auto-scale to zero when you're idle. Cancelling a plan does not burn your credits. More on that in Cancellation & refunds .

Where to go next

Now that the money is demystified, see what's free versus paid, and how bringing your own keys changes the math:

See it on your own account

Open the Wallet tab, read your balance, and skim the ledger. Every row is compute you ran — 1 credit = $1, cloud renders billed at 1.2×, and your own AI keys never billed.
