Operating context — the whole product in one demo

Repurpose any video into your own ad

Take any video on the Discover feed, hit Copy Prompt, and transpose its winning formula onto your product. Then watch the same ad get dialed from rich-AI down to $0 by swapping the generated video for clipped footage.

Copies the whole guide — prompts, next steps & all — for your AI agent

The capstone demo: cloning a Discover template into a Travelize travel-app ad with a desktop agent, first at pure-AI (~$1.50), then rebuilt to $0 with clipped YouTube scenes + kinetic captions, and saved as a reusable template. Watch this one on YouTube

Key takeaways

  • Every video on Discover has a Copy Prompt button — it copies a curated, crowd-sourced recreation brief you hand to a desktop coding agent (this demo uses Codex; Claude Code works too).
  • The brief transposes the winning formula — hook, pacing, structure, visual virality — onto your offer, and asks what you're promoting before it builds anything.
  • You pick a cost postureminimize / hybrid / rich-ai — because of the three paintbrushes : clip library and HTML-to-video are free, AI image is cheap, only AI video is expensive.
  • The agent builds a storyboard to approve first, so it never burns credits on the wrong thing.
  • Same ad, two prices: rich-AI ≈ $1.50 for 15s (~10¢/s), or $0 by keeping the voiceover + music and replacing the AI video with scenes clipped from YouTube.
  • Like it? Save it as a template — your next video of that type is one prompt away. That's why scaling on VidFarm is fast and flat-priced.

One machine, any video, any budget

This is the whole product in a single sitting: point VidFarm at any video that already works, tell it your product, and it transposes the formula into your ad — then you decide how much of it is generated versus reused, which is what sets the price.

The reason the same ad can cost $1.50 or $0 is the three paintbrushes : reusing clips from a library is free, HTML-to-video motion graphics are free, AI images are cheap — and only AI video is expensive (roughly ~10¢ a second). So VidFarm lets you set a cost posture and it composes your video out of the cheapest brushes that still hit the look you want. Run it in a cost-saving mode and videos land for a cent or free; open the tap on AI video and you pay for exactly what you generate — with your own AI keys , so there's no token markup.

Strategically this is the same move as copying competitors — borrow the structure, never the footage — but here it's generalized to any category on the feed, run end-to-end by a desktop agent, with the cost dial front and center.

Any video → your adThe walkthrough

  1. Find a video you like & Copy Prompt

On the Discover feed , browse any category — a luxury real-estate reel, a personal blog, a travel montage — and on the card you like, click Copy Prompt. That copies the recreation brief that made it, ready to paste into an agent.

These prompts are curated, crowd-sourced instructions on how to recreate the video — they save you the guesswork (and the tokens) of figuring it out yourself.

  2. Set up a desktop agent with your API key

Open a desktop coding agent (the demo uses Codex; Claude Code, Gemini CLI, etc. all work). Make a project folder, add a .env with VIDFARM_API_KEY= your key (grab it from Settings → Developer ) and a .gitignore so secrets aren't committed, then give the agent full access to the folder.

Paste the Copy-Prompt brief and hit enter. It reads vidfarm.cc/skill.md (the vidfarm skill) and — because the brief tells it to — asks what your product is before building anything.

  3. Tell it your product & reuse your brand

Point it at your offer: "promote this travel app — take a look at the website and reuse its graphics, turn it into an ad." Give it your site URL so it pulls your real brand assets and copy. It transposes the source's hook and pacing onto your product instead of cloning the original.

  4. Choose your cost posture

The agent asks how to spend: minimize (cheapest brushes only), hybrid (allow some AI video within budget), or rich-ai (lean on AI video). In the demo: rich-AI to recreate the template, hybrid to turn it into the ad.

This is the same control as the wallet & cost-mode — you're deciding up front how much generated video you're willing to pay for.

  5. Approve the storyboard, then render

It first produces a storyboard for you to review — a cheap checkpoint so it doesn't spend time or credits building the wrong thing. Approve it, then say "sounds good, make the video."

Out comes the finished ad. In the demo, the rich-AI version — 15 seconds at ~10¢/s — cost about $1.50. Great result, but we can do better.

  6. Dial it to $0 with clipped footage

Go back to the paintbrushes: can we replace the generated video with reused clips? Yes. Grab a few source videos — search YouTube (or anywhere) for your topic and copy 3 URLs — then tell the agent:

"Remake this in cost-saving mode. Keep the voiceover and music, but replace the AI video with scenes clipped from these three videos. Recreate and render locally."

VidFarm's clipping endpoints pull well-fitting scenes for the style. Same ad, now built from the two free brushes — total cost: $0.

  7. Mix in captions & save as a template

Want kinetic captions? Point it at another template's caption style — "add kinetic captions similar to this one" and paste that template — and it mixes that look in. You can mix-and-match pieces from different videos freely.

When you're happy, save it as a template. Your next video of that type is one prompt away — which is exactly why scaling on VidFarm is fast and stays flat-priced.

The desktop agent presenting a creative storyboard for the Travelize ad and asking the user to approve it before generating, alongside a cost-posture choice of minimize / hybrid / rich-AI.
Approve the storyboard first (a cheap checkpoint), and choose a cost posture — minimize / hybrid / rich-AI — before any expensive AI video is generated.
What it costs The whole point of this demo is the dial. Pure-AI video runs ~10¢/second (so ~$1.50 for a 15s ad); the exact same ad rebuilt from clipped footage + HTML motion + reused voiceover costs $0. And because decompose is reuse-first — most feed videos are already decomposed by the community, and a fresh decompose is ~20–50¢ instead of the $2–3 a plain AI chat would burn — you save money the more you make. You do need BYOK AI keys in Settings → Developer for any generation (no markup, latest models).
Tip Think of VidFarm as a cloud framework for video. Without one, you're stumbling around trying to get raw AI to make ads efficiently; with it, you get fast productivity and cheap, flat-priced scaling — save a winner as a template and every follow-up is one prompt.
Note Free tier runs everything locally on your computer. Move to VidFarm cloud when you want shareable links, team collaboration, and auto-publishing to your connected social channels.

Where to go next

You've turned a feed video into your own ad and dialed it to $0. Go deeper on the cost model, or on sourcing the clips that make free videos possible:

Turn any video into your ad

Pick a video on Discover, hit Copy Prompt, hand it to your agent, and choose how much to spend — from rich-AI down to $0 with clipped footage. Save the winner as a template and scale flat-priced.
